THE 8th MEETING OF THE AMWCY
to be held in Cotonou, Benin from the 26 october to 7 November 2009
Information note on the 8th Meeting of the AMWCY
The claim of rights by the working children
218 million children in the world, were in need of polices that were made to eliminate child labour but to no avail, the policies did not materialise and they lived their childhood street vending, cattle keeping or cleaning the house. Having no alternatives, they started organising themselves to fight for their rights such as the right to trade, to education, to play and to remain at home when they are sick.

WCYs with Mama Africa during the birth registration conference (Dakar, Febuary, 2004), that day she agreed to be the God moter of the AMWCY
Our African Movement of Working Children and youth (AMWCY)
is in mourning with the death of his God mother Mama Africa, Myriam Makeba.
She was a mother to us, a counselor. His death leaves a
vacuum in the Movement and plunges us into the orphanage.
On behalf of all members of our movement AMWCY, and its
friends, and our supporting structure ENDA Tiers Monde
Jeunesse Action, I extend my deepest condolences to the
family of the deceased and to all African artists.
May God accept our dear godmother in his Even. Amen!
